The water supply to the plant is controlled by a canal system. Needle dams regulate the amount of water into the various installations. Water from the river Asbjørnsåa is diverted to the Sagelva river in Teppa.
The water intake in Asbjørnsåa shows how previous generations with simple means managed to both secure the minimum water flow in the river Sagelva as well as they managed to limit the floodwater discharge. Teppa was reconstructed in 2002.
